ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN – In the wake of alarming developments at the 2025 FISU World University Games in Germany, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has constituted a three-member committee to investigate serious administrative failures — including the disappearance of two student-athletes from the national contingent.
The committee, headed by Director PSB Lahore Noor-us-Sabah, alongside Nasrullah Rana and Saifur Rehman Rao, has been directed to submit a detailed fact-finding report within 15 days. Its mandate includes probing issues such as the selection process of officials, absence of key support staff, disciplinary breakdowns, and the now-viral case of the two athletes who allegedly went missing during the event.
Officials from the Higher Education Commission (HEC), responsible for team selection, have come under scrutiny for appointing personnel largely from affiliated universities, sidelining provincial representatives and raising concerns about bias and favoritism.
Adding to the embarrassment, Pakistan’s women’s 4x400m relay team was disqualified due to mismanagement, and a judo athlete was forced to compete without a coach or proper uniform, highlighting glaring lapses in logistical planning.
Disappearance of athletes during foreign tours has become a recurring issue for Pakistan, casting a shadow over its international sporting image and raising questions about safeguards, screening, and accountability mechanisms in place for official delegations.
