LONDON – England manager Thomas Tuchel has left Trent Alexander-Arnold out of his latest squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia, while uncapped duo Elliot Anderson and Djed Spence receive their first call-ups.
Alexander-Arnold, 26, who moved from Liverpool to Real Madrid this summer, was included in Tuchel’s previous squad but has not been named for the upcoming fixtures. He also missed Real Madrid’s starting lineup in their 3-0 win over Real Oviedo on Sunday.
Nottingham Forest midfielder Anderson and Tottenham full-back Spence are rewarded with their maiden call-ups, while Everton winger Jack Grealish misses out despite impressing in recent club action. The squad sees recalls for Marcus Rashford and Adam Wharton, with veteran Jordan Henderson, 35, and Morgan Gibbs-White also included.
Players missing from the squad include Kyle Walker, Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, and Ah-Ahli striker Ivan Toney. Tino Livramento and John Stones return to the squad for the first time under Tuchel.
England, top of Group K with three wins in three games, face Andorra at Villa Park on Saturday, 6 September, before travelling to Belgrade to play Serbia on Tuesday, 9 September.
