LAHORE – Concern is mounting within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over the sustained underperformance of the country’s cricket teams across all formats, according to reliable sources. The issue topped the agenda in a recent three-hour Board of Governors (BoG) meeting, during which officials voiced deep dissatisfaction over results from the men’s senior team, the women’s squad, and the Pakistan Shaheens.
During the session, representatives from departments including International Cricket, the High Performance Centre, Legal Affairs, and the Women’s Wing presented detailed reports highlighting troubling trends. Central to the discussion was the disruptive impact of frequent leadership changes: Pakistan has seen four PCB chairpersons in under three years, each bringing sweeping shifts in selectorial, coaching, and captaincy roles. Officials acknowledged that this instability has badly undermined team morale, strategic planning, and long-term performance.
The BoG raised urgent questions to the International Cricket Department regarding declining consistency and competitiveness on the field. In response, the department cited the revolving-door leadership as a key obstacle, arguing that the lack of continuity has prevented any meaningful progress or corrective measures.
With concern building at the highest levels, sources say calls are growing for a more stable structure, leadership clarity, and strategic reforms to reverse the downward trajectory before momentum and talent are further eroded.
