BEIJING / PAKISTAN – Pakistan’s Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal has made a strong pitch for foreign investment in the country’s health sector at the Boao Forum for Asia Global Health Forum held in Beijing.
Addressing global leaders and investors, Kamal highlighted Pakistan’s vast potential, citing a population of over 250 million, fast-evolving digital healthcare reforms, and a growing demand for innovation in telemedicine, pharmaceuticals, and diagnostics.
The minister also announced the establishment of a dedicated “China Desk” at the National Institute of Health (NIH), aimed at facilitating Chinese investors through one-window operations. Discussions with his Chinese counterpart focused on collaboration in vaccine production, local manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), and traditional Chinese medicine.
“Without health, there is no economic progress,” Kamal asserted, noting government efforts to integrate digital health IDs, expand nursing education, and introduce mobile clinics for underserved communities.
Pakistan is actively working under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to reform its regulatory environment and attract foreign partnerships in healthcare innovation and manufacturing.
