LONDON, UK – British-Jamaican actor Micheal Ward, known globally for his breakout role in Top Boy and films like Blue Story and Empire of Light, has been formally charged with multiple counts of rape and sexual assault by the Metropolitan Police.
The charges stem from an alleged incident in January 2023, involving one woman. Ward, 27, faces two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault. He is expected to appear before Thames Magistrates’ Court on August 28, 2025.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) stated that the decision followed a “thorough review” of evidence submitted by the police. Authorities have urged media and the public to avoid speculation, emphasizing the importance of a fair trial.
Ward, who has denied all allegations, says he is cooperating fully with the legal process and expressed confidence that the truth will come to light.
Meanwhile, Olivia Bell Management, the agency representing Ward in the UK, has reportedly cut ties with the actor, while Creative Artists Agency (CAA) in the U.S. has declined to comment.
Ward rose to prominence through Top Boy and later earned a BAFTA Rising Star Award, becoming one of the UK’s most sought-after young actors. The charges have sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry.
