LONDON – Novak Djokovic survived a tense four-set encounter to secure his place in the Wimbledon quarter-finals, overcoming Australia’s Alex de Minaur with a scoreline of 1–6, 6–4, 6–4, 6–4 on Monday.
The Serbian star stumbled early, dropping the first set 1–6 and amassing multiple unforced errors amid swirling winds. However, Djokovic showcased his trademark resilience, refocusing to capture the next three sets. In the final set, he clawed back from a 4–1 deficit, winning 14 of the last 15 points.
This milestone marks the 16th time Djokovic has reached the Wimbledon last eight, advancing his hunt for a 25th Grand Slam title and a record-equalling eighth crown at the All England Club. He will now face Italy’s Flavio Cobolli, who advanced after defeating Marin Čilić.
Throughout the match, Djokovic leaned into his mental strength and match experience. He credited his composure and tactical adjustments for turning the tide, even as battling gusty conditions and Centre Court pressure tested him.
The win also extended Djokovic’s Wimbledon dominance, bringing him to 43 wins in 45 matches on the London grass and underscoring his enduring presence among tennis’s elite.
