ISLAMABAD: Maryam Nawaz joined PDM protest in Islamabad outside the Supreme Court, while addressing she made the demand that “free and fair elections are not possible until Umar Ata Bandial remains the country’s top judge”.
“The election will be held on its scheduled time after you step down,” she said, addressing the CJP.
“All of you should be aware that the anarchy […] and crisis that has taken over the country today, the place of its genesis was not Zaman Park as much as Umar Ata Bandial’s post.”
PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz has accused PTI Chairman Imran Khan of doing what “terrorists or Pakistan’s enemies could not do”.
While addressing supporters during the PDM sit-in outside Supreme Court, she said: “He and his wife stole the public’s money and then bought plots from this money.”
Maryam went on to say that Imran “trained” his “minions” at Zaman Park and set fire to the Jinnah House. “But when this man appeared before the court, the CJP expressed pleasure over meeting him.”
“The Constitution was rewritten. Article 63-A was wrongly interpreted.
“The Constitution says that when a party member casts votes against the party line, they are de-seated, not that their vote will not be counted.
“But Umar Ata Bandial rewrote the Constitution and [wrote the decision] that such a member will be de-seated and their vote, too, shall not be counted.”
“Whenever this country saw the worse, it was due to the doctrine of necessity coming from here.
“Elected prime ministers are sent packing and some are hanged … and [these decisions] are stamped here.”
“This building (Supreme Court) before us, it was supposed to be a means of delivering justice to the oppressed, bringing the powerful under the law and strengthening democracy.
“This building should have been a means of strengthening parliament.
“It was the responsibility of this building to maintain the sanctity of the elected prime ministers […] to strengthen the democracy.
“But the facilitators […] sitting in this building are murdering justice.”
“We respect judges, the judiciary and the law.
“Today, we will not talk about the judges that abide by the law and Constitution.
“If we will talk about anyone today, it will be Imran’s facilitators.”
PML-N Chief Organiser has accused the Supreme Court of imposing a “judicial martial law” in Pakistan.
Addressing Pakistan Democratic Movement protesters outside the apex court, she said: “Today, when the army is standing with the democracy and Constitution of Pakistan … the fifth martial law in Pakistan … judicial martial law has been imposed from this building.”
‘Are you happy to see a sea of people outside SC?’ Maryam asks CJP
“A large number of people gathered outside this building today. I ask Umar Ata Bandial sahib whether you are happy to see a sea of people.
“Come, Umar Ata Bandial sahib, have a look at the real nation of Pakistan.
“They are here to ask you a question.”
