Former youth international Andrews made his Trinidad and Tobago senior debut in a 4-3 friendly win against Colombia in Miami, and in 2005 the national team captain passed 50 caps.

A former San Juan Jabloteh and Carib FC player in Trinidad, Andrews arrived in Scotland in 1997/98 with first division Raith Rovers FC after a failed Motherwell FC trial and a long wait for a work permit. A pelvic injury blunted his early impact, but in 1999/00 he blossomed. He was voted the club’s player of the year, and early the next campaign won a move to Livingston FC for €72,000.

2000: Andrews helped Livingston to the first division championship and promotion, and like the club soon took to the Premier League. He played in the 2002/03 UEFA Cup and was Livingston's player of the year in 2003/04, the year they won their first major trophy, the Scottish League Cup. After his contract expired, he joined Rangers FC on a two-year deal.

2004/05: Produced a string of fine performances, and although injury kept him out of Rangers' League Cup final victory against Motherwell, he was a crucial part of their championship triumph. Also made his UEFA Champions League debut against PFC CSKA Moskva and played in the UEFA Cup group stage.
