Pakistan thrashed New Zealand by 13 runs in its first World T20 Cup match played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan thrashed New Zealand by 13 runs in its first World T20 Cup match  played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

NZ which started out confidently lost its first wicket at 53 runs when Nicol (33) by was clean bowled by Shahid Afridi in the fourth ball of the 7th over.

It lost Williamson (15) one run later. He was run out by joint efforts of Nasir  ajmshed and Pakistani skipper Mohammad Hafeez.

NZ Captain Vettori (18) was caught by Nasir Jamshed off Saeed Ajmal at collecetive score of 102. He was NZ's 3rd loss.

New Zealand's  4th wicket (McCullum) fell at 108 runs in 15.1 overs

Its 5th wicket (Oram) fell at 122 runs in 16.2 overs

The 6th wicket (Franklin) fell at 143 runs in 17.5 overs.

That turns the last 13 balls of the match interesting: NZ needed 34 runs in 13 balls.

It needed 19 runs to win the match in the 20th and the last over.

Saeed Ajmal took 4 wickets while Sohail Tanvir, Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi took 1 wicket each.

Two NZ players ran out.
