Snoker: Ishtiaq stuns Khurram to win Sindh Cup

KARACHI: Mohammad Ishtiaq defeated defending champion Khurram Agha 6-2 in the final to win the 20th Sindh Cup Snooker Championship at Aly`s Snooker Parlor here on Monday. 21-year-old Ishtiaq displayed a superb game against veteran international Khurram to dethrone him.
Ishtiaq dropped the first and third frame before outplaying Khuram 27-65, 80-35, 0-110, 69-40, 80-79, 56-43, 65-42, 58-49. Sindh Billiards and Snooker Association secretary general Sikander Ali presented a glittering trophy and cash prize of Rs. 25000 to Ishtiaq. Khurram pocketed Rs.15000 and runner-up trophy. Losing semifinalists Farrukh Usman and Jawed Ansari collected Rs.6000 each. Top six cueists of the championship also including Vishan Gir and Muhammad Akmal have qualified for the next month’s National Snooker Championship. End. |
