Pakistan A beat Afghanistan
13 February, 2013
LAHORE: Gulbodin Naib's maiden hundred at any level failed to stop Pakistan A winning the second one-day match against Afghanistan by six wickets here on Tuesday as the hosts took the series 2-0.
Naib, 21, hit a 93-ball 100 at number eight to lift Afghanistan from a precarious 77-6, hitting 13 boundaries and three sixes in a fighting 93-ball knock after pacemen Wahab Riaz (3-30) and Imran Khan (3-35) wrecked the visitors. Naib added 93 for the seventh wicket with Mirwais Ashraf who made 37 as the pair guided Afghanistan to 207-9 in their 50 overs. Pakistan A knocked off the required runs in 41.3 overs with Pakistan discard Kamran Akmal hitting a brilliant 104. Akmal hit 14 boundaries and a six during his 105-ball knock. He put on 94 for the first wicket with Ahmed Shahzad who made 33. Pakistan won the first one-day match by eight wickets. The two teams play a Twenty20 here today (Wednesday).
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) once again failed to gather a good crowd for Pakistan A and Afghanistan match as the arrangements were not up to the mark and moreover. The cricket board is selling tickets for the entrance in the stadium which is discouraging the fans to come to witness the second-tier match. The board management also didn't advertise the matches nor rope in security agencies as this was a low-key event and putting entrance fee on such a match is really surprising. The PCB should take benefit from such opportunities to bring more and more spectators to the ground as it would give them a proper dress-rehearsal for purposed Pakistan Super League and also holding of event in a befitting manner would send positive message abroad.
The PCB chief should take notice of it and asked the concerned officials to hold the next matches in a befitting manner and there must not be any ticket for entry as a great number of fans will take interest in witnessing the remaining matches and see their national heroes in action on home ground. scoreboardAFGHANISTAN:Karim Sadiq lbw b Imran7M Shahzad c K Akmal b Riaz12Asghar c U Akmal b
