LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf met Nawa-i-Waqt Group Editor-in-chief Dr Majid Nizami at his office on Monday.
During his meeting, he said that he was working hard to maintain cricket affairs for the betterment of the game and the national team.
While speaking on Waqt TV programme "Game Beat", Zaka said: "I have written a letter to Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, the patron of PCB, to meet him and discuss board affairs for improvement."
He said that politics should be kept away from cricket. "I will not only meet PM but will also invite cricket superstar Imran Khan for suggestion to improve the game," he added.
The PCB chief disclosed the plan of establishing a cricket stadium in Islamabad where all basic and international facilities would be provided to the visiting cricket teams. "The stadium will be fully secured having a five star hotel and a helipad to provide foolproof security to all touring teams. Though in our previous era, we could not initiate work on this project but this time, we are looking forward to work on it on emergency basis and complete it soon in an effort to revive international cricket in Pakistan."
When asked about hiring a new coach, Zaka replied: "A committee has been made for the selection of a new coach and I hope they will select the best."
Praising national team captain Misbahul Haq, he said: "Misbah is one of the best players and captains, however, it is not sure either he will retain as captain for 2015 World Cup or not." "Though I don't want to deprive any one of his bread and butter yet there will be right-sizing to purify the board from incompetent and ineligible employees," he concluded.
