Afridi was to brief the mediamen at his residence Sunday evening but the scheduled press conference was cancelled at the behest of the Pakistan Cricket Board as the all-rounder has not taken permission for the said briefing..

"The board has refused permission to Afridi to hold the conference as he is a centrally contracted player and can't speak to the media without obtaining a prior permission," a source close to the player said.  Afridi apparently wanted to talk to the media about his performance in Sri Lanka, where Pakistan lost the semi-final against hosts Sri Lanka.

"Afridi is a contracted player and has to follow all the rules and regulations for players mentioned in the central contracts," a source in the board revealed.  Afridi, one of Pakistan's most experienced players, has stopped playing Test cricket since 2010 and features only in limited overs formats of cricket.
