LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has barred all-rounder Shahid Afridi from addressing a press briefing scheduled at his residence on Sunday, it has been learnt.
Afridi was to brief the mediamen at his residence Sunday evening but the scheduled press conference was cancelled at the behest of the Pakistan Cricket Board as the all-rounder has not taken permission for the said briefing.. "The board has refused permission to Afridi to hold the conference as he is a centrally contracted player and can't speak to the media without obtaining a prior permission," a source close to the player said. Afridi apparently wanted to talk to the media about his performance in Sri Lanka, where Pakistan lost the semi-final against hosts Sri Lanka. "Afridi is a contracted player and has to follow all the rules and regulations for players mentioned in the central contracts," a source in the board revealed. Afridi, one of Pakistan's most experienced players, has stopped playing Test cricket since 2010 and features only in limited overs formats of cricket. End. |
