US Vice-President Dick Cheney has conveyed the Bush administration`s message to Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf that the opponents of the possible invasion of Iran will no longer be treated as "allies".

Mr Cheney, who air dashed Islamabad on Monday last , on a one-day surprise visit held a two-hour-long meeting with General Musharraf and expressed his country`s concern over a peace agreement with the tribesmen in North Waziristan. Cheney claimed that cross-border infiltration had increased after the agreement.

Sources privy to Presidential House said that Mr Cheney also discussed a joint strategy to counter the purported Taliban spring operation in war-hacked Afghanistan during the meeting.

According to sources, Mr Cheney also brought the deputy director of CIA, who presented "proofs" to General Musharraf as regards regrouping and training Taliban inside Pakistan.

The sources quoted Mr Cheney as saying " Even without Pakistan`s support, the US forces are capable of taking military action against Iran through Afghanistan, Central Asia, and Gulf".

Here are some questions

1. Is an American invasion of Iran imminent?
2. What will be the choice for Pakistan in case of attack on Iran?
3. Should Pakistan provide logistic support to America for attacking Iran as it did in case of Afghanistan?
4. Will there be any internal reaction in case of Pakistan`s support to US adventure?
5. Do you agree with Musharraf`s contention that the whole world will have to face the consequences of attack on Iran?

D-Day March( Nauroze)

Depending on the outcome of the Iran-Saudi talks.Dick will advise Bush when to launch the strike! Their mind
already set will not change.

Iran war is imminent

Every part which has left holy land of Bharat (India) is punished by God. Afganistan is a Hell from centuries, Bangladesh is most undevelpoed country with regular natural disasters and is heading towards total chaos, Pakistan is becoming another Afganistan.....sooner or later America will attack pakistan too as Pakistan has become a den of Taliban and Pakistani society is becoming Talibani.

Iran attack will create more problems within pakistan. Its possible Balauchistan and NWFP will become new countries in new allingment after Iran war.

Reflections upon a sinking ship

Bomb them.If you don't succeed first time, bomb them again. This is the solution Dick Cheney & other neocons have in their minds to resolve international issues. Those of us who grew up during VietNam war, vividly remember that it started with invasion of VietNam. When we failed, we blamed Cambodia, then Laos for providing sanctuaries to VietCongs. No matter how hard Musharraf tries to please American Administration, the fate of Pakistan is akin to Cambodia & Laos.

Shah Alam, United Kingdom - 05 March, 2007

American cowards

Everybody knows that america will never have the guts to send ground troops to Islamic Republic of Iran. They are cowards who hide behind their bombs and have no right to murder to control Iraq or Afghanistan. They use anyone they have to to achieve their selfish goals and then turn on you if it earns them a dollar or approval from their zionist masters. I hope Iran sinks all their ships and bombs all their bases in Iraq(sunnis and shi'ite unite)and Afghanistan(GO TALIBAN AND HIZB-E-ISLAMI). All their talk of freedom and democracy for all is the most obvious lie I have ever heard and anyone who believes them is a total fool. If only there was a God, who could free the oppressed of the world(so many of whom happen to be muslim, don't forget Chechnya!!!) and punish the REAL CRIMINALS who are almost all members of "government". To all mujahideen: don't listen to the white man's lies, look at their history of conquest through murder and lies and see the truth. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Qazi's dance for war

No individual leader or common man of a country has any right to prod for attack on an other country unless provoked with hostilities like in Pear Harbour. War was justified there.

Unprovoked attack on Iran has full potential to destabilize and bleed the neighbouring countries as well. Pakistani peace lovers will worry for their dear ones there.

We do not have to support an un provoked war and see millions innocents bleed to death in Iran, Pakistan and other neighbours who will be totally stabilized and paralyzed. there is no way that you could stop it there once it all gets unleashed.

The majority in America including Bill and Hillary and the people world wide do not want to see the repeat of Iraq at much bigger scale in Iran and the flames spreading to Pakistan and Turkey and beyond as well.

Those advocates of war on Iran including some neuvo privileged like Qazi can dance for unprovoked war against Islamic nation or nations.

They can enjoy little bit more bread and butter on their table while millions muslims will bleed out of this crime on innocent humanity if it materializes with Qazi wishes come true.

The one Pakistani American dancing for war with minority war mongers even in America can report my cry for peace to FBI or the Canadian authorities-MOST WELCOME.

I love my Islamic world's people as much or even more than all people.I love Pakistani people on my each trip i make there to join them soon as am soon settling there.

MORE THAN THE SIMPLE WORDS
I TRY TO SAY
I ONLY LIVE TO LOVE YOU MORE
EACH DAY.

I have been to Iran and i love people there regardless of what they are. I have lived in Canada for over forty years and i love Canadian and all other people, who form humanity.

NO PEOPLE ON THIS PLANET EARTH DESERVE UNPROVOKED WAR.

It is easy to talk about war for some people.

UNPROVOKED WAR IS CRIME ON HUMANITY NO MATTER WHO DOES IT.

People with peace in their hearts loose taste of their own lives when millions of innocent humans are bombed out and are bleeding profusely in streets.

Perhaps 600000 dead in Iraq with no FINDING OF WMD even after an unprovoked war on Iraqi people must be bringing some joy for some odd Pakistani American. that extra bread and butter and some more warmth in some body's house is worth more than the mass blood of muslims flowing in the streets of Islam.

Such odd ones were rejoicing even the mass murders of Hitler's war machinery.

THOSE DANCING FOR WAR AT ONE TIME WERE STABBING THEIR OWN SISTERS THROUGH THEIR HEARTS THAT THEY DON'T FALL INTO THE HANDS OF THE OCCUPYING RUSSIAN SOLDIERS AFTER THE THINGS REVERSED.

THE WHOLE WAR PLANS OF NOW HAVE TO BE ARRESTED AND REPLACED WITH FIRM FAITH IN PEACE FOR HUMANITY.

MAY ALLAH BLESS HUMANITY WITH ETERNAL PEACE- FOR IRAN, FOR PAKISTAN AND FOR ALL HUMANITY.

War itself may have only two results-victory or defeat, but its consequence of bloody death and destruction are not worth to wish for it.

My peace at heart feelings are far above my any citizenship.

I WILL NEVER SELL MY SOUL FOR ANY PRIVILEGE AND NOR DO MOST HUMANS DO SO AS WELL.

MAJORITY PEOPLE OF THE WORLD ARE AGAINST UNPROVOKED WAR THAT BRINGS INNOCENT BLOOD BY MILLIONS.

QAZI MAY THINK EVEN MORE LIKE DICK CHENEY, BUT MAJORITY IN AMERICA AND THE WORLD WILL ASPIRE FOR PEACE.

ALLAH WILL SAVE ISLAMIC WORLD AND ALL HUMANITY FROM THE HOUNDS OF WAR.

GO AHEAD QAZI, REPORT ME TO FBI OR CANADIAN AUTHORITIES THAT I HATE WAR AGAINST IRAN, PAKISTAN AND ALL HUMANITY.

THOSE, WHO THINK THAT THIS WAR WILL NOT ENVELOP PAKISTAN, TURKEY AND WILL DRAW OTHER MAJOR POWERS IN, NEED THEIR HEADS EXAMINED.

WAKE UP YOU PEACE LOVING HUMANITY AS FEW HOUNDS OF WAR ARE DRAGGING YOU INTO ANNIHILATION OF THE DEAR, LOVABLE, LIVABLE AND LOVERLY FELLOW HUMANS OF THE PLANET EARTH.

Hi Arshad Malik

Hi Arshad Malik, Pakistan. The biggest test of any religion is its tolerance. The more tolerant a religion is, the closer it is to God & the more are its chances of survival in the long run (say hundreds of years, if not a few thousands)

Call it Hinduism, Paganism, Idol worshiping or pure insanity, the fact is that this is one of the oldest & the most tolerant religions of the world. It is so old that it has given birth to branches like Sikhism, Buddhism, Jainism & Sufism. All these borrow some or the other aspects from Hinduism. It has survived centuries & centuries of favorable as well as unfavorable times due to its teachings of non-violence, sanctity of life & tolerance.

Recently, there were some news reports about some controversial Danish cartoons in the media. Not long ago, in India there were similar reports of a Muslim painter named M F Hussain who painted some objectionable paintings of Hindu deities (or idols or whatever you might want to call them). There was a sea difference in the response of the religiously superior Muslims like you & those Idol worshipers. The Idol worshipers shrugged it off as a stray incident to seek publicity while Muslims like you around the world made a hue & cry about those Danish cartoons & issuing death threats to the publishers & what not.

Hinduism is too great to be offended by such petty acts of some whacko individuals but such a thing sure seemed to shake up the entire Muslim world. Sound foundations indeed !

Bal Thackeray, Hungary - 06 March, 2007

Another farcical war

Mr Halliburton is truly pathetic. They never managed to justify the war on Iraq and are now planning another one in Iran. Any Pakistani government would be extremely foolish to support such a misadventure. We need good relations with Iran much more than we need good relations with the Bush mafia. Simply put, a war on Iran is ethically WRONG no matter what basis the media concocts this time. The British are planning to upgrade their nuclear arsenal and nobody from the IAEA questions that. The Americans are helping maintain Israel's nuclear arsenal and nobody from the IAEA questions that. At the end of the day, Al-Baradei is just a rottwieller for the Bush mafia. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the primary reason why he got the Nobel 'peace' prize, when his predecesor Hans Blix was much more deserving of it. How long will we continue to support such stark hipocrisy?

Aejaz, Pakistan - 06 March, 2007

Stop bullying Iran

t's the ultimate hypocrisy of the west to punish Iran for a law Iran has not broken.

When no one has found the tiniest evidence of Iran producing nuclear weapons - which is the whole purpose of the non-proliferation treaty that it has signed - what kind of international law justifies the UN security council's sanctions on Iran?

Since when has international law become able to measure the intentions of countries and react to them, if they say Iran intends to produce nuclear weapons? And how come the same UN security council turns a blind eye to Israel, India, and Pakistan - who everyone knew had long the same intention? They have neven signed the non-proliferation treaty, yet their defiance has been and is still rewarded.

Make no mistake, when the powerful UK, which has lived safely among its peaceful neighbours still feels the need for its nuclear arsenal, any sovereign state like Iran, which has constantly been under the US threat for since its popular revolution against an American-aligned, corrupted and incompetent monarchy. Especially when suddenly it finds two of its neighbouring countries invaded.

That's why I would definitely support Iran if one day it decided to start making the weapons. But has it actually started? Everyone says that even if Iran plans to, it will take up to 10 years before it manages to do so. So what is all this bullying really about?

The more the clash between the west and Iran escalates, the more convinced I become that the west's real problem with the Islamic Republic of Iran is not its nuclear activities, its level of democracy, its human rights record, or its support for "terrorist" groups. Pakistan, followed closely by Saudi Arabia, easily beats Iran on all these fronts.

The real problem is that the Islamic Republic has decided to be independent in a region saturated with fossil energy resources, and at the same time run by American puppets. Iran has posed the biggest continuous challenge to the American hegemony in the whole world, and so it has to pay a price.

Increasingly, a lot of secular Iranians, like myself, are figuring that even if Iran is turned into the most democratic, secular, fair and peaceful state on earth, there is no guarantee the US won't find another excuse to try to overtrow its goverment. It will start bullying Iran for its "devastating role" in climate change, or animal rights, or - who knows? - for obesity.

The interests of the Islamic Republic, with all its internal struggles, challenges and flaws, have never overlapped more closely the interests of Persia as a historic nation. And here lies the surprising support of most Iranians, despite their serious dissatisfaction and frustration, for the Islamic Republic and its resistence towards the US, symbolised by its nuclear programme.

I'm not saying this as a fervent religious man with sexy Ahmadinejad's posters on my wall. In fact, I am an athiest and this can easily get me into serious trouble in any Islamic country. I did not vote for Ahmadinejad and I would do anything to democratically bring him down.

I have also risked my life and future in Iran by becoming the first Iranian after the revolution who has publicly visited Israel. Why? To counter both countries' nasty and demonising propaganda against each other and to save my grandmother, postman or university professor from being compared to Nazi soldiers who must be nuked tomorrow.

A a matter of fact, I am even a victim of the paranoid state of Iran that censors criticism and punishes dissent for fear of foreign-backed revolt. (Remember the CIA had commissioned newspaper articles and cartoons to discredit prime minister Mossadeq before bringing his democratically elected government down by a coup in 1953.) My own blog is blocked in Iran and I was detained and forced to sign an apology for my writing before being allowed to leave Iran in 2005.

And of course I do have the dream of an open, free, fair and secular Iran, run by competent and representative officials, and in peace with the whole world, obviously including Israel.

However, I believe the Islamic Republic is a valuable cause, worth defending and, at its worst, is way better than anything that the United States or anyone else can bring to Iran.

If the US waged a war against Iran, I would absolutely go back and defend Iran.

Fortunately, I'm not alone.

Cure

Pakistan needs to become a moderate country if it wishes to save itself from becoming an American protectorate. It is quite likely that USA will take out extremists in PAk Afghan border. Pakistanis should help their country by rejecting terrorists and kicking them out. Pakistan is a nation with talent but it is going to waste because of their refusal to shun the terrorists and jihadists.

Arshad, Kuwait - 06 March, 2007

what?!

I remember the simple times, times till 10th sept 2001...most ordinary people in the west had ever heard of Pakistan or afghanistan, for most peoplein the world didnt know about taliban and there was 'war of terrorism' or such things...all these news channels made loads of cash though if all this didnt happen..but really those were the times when everyone respected each other, americans didnt know much about muslims, muslims were ok with america, everything was fine...then suddenly...people got crazy everywhere and now we hear the talk of living in a 'dangerous' world with terrorism and complex political systems...ahhh load of b***sh**...i miss the world before that date, it really was a much much much much less complicated and safer place then

uzair usman, United Arab Emirates - 07 March, 2007

Terrorist attacks on American interests happened before 9/11 as well

Alqaida and Iranian supported Hizbullah were attacking American interests long before 9/11. Anyone with minimal interest in global issues would have known about it. In fact Iraq and Afghanistan were bombed by America in response to these terrorist acts.

However the terrorists thought American will continue taking punishment and won't send in the military. Well that calculation was wrong. And now the result is that Western troops are all over the map chasing down the attackers.

Saddam never accepted defeat, and Mullah Omer never realized American resolve. The same mistake is now being made by Iranian leadership. All these so called leaders cared more about their little statures and big egos. Midget leaders like Saddam, Mullah Omer, and now Ahmadenjat give a hoot to welfare of their own people. They all love bombastic statements instead of taking care of their people.

Look at the plight of Shias in Saddam’s era Sadar city, look at the Mullah Omer’s capital city Kabul, and now see Ahmadenejat’s jobless and penny less millions of Iranians. They all live the same miserable lives similar to the feminine infested lives of North Koreans.

Unfortunately we have many writers of Pakistani origins who continuously play dumb in the face of international situation and the role of egotistic leaders like Saddam, Kim Ill, Ahmadenejat, Mullah Omer and Chavez. As long as these dimwits make anti-West statements these Pakistanis are ready to jump up and down and cheer the stupidity. These so called intellectuals are so mis-informed that they are willing to sacrifice Pakistan for the false causes and stupid reasons.

I hope we all learn our lesson from the stateless people of the world. I hope we start valuing Pakistan as an oasis. I hope Pakistan remains safe even when leftist and Islamist anarchists conspire to bring this country down.

Dr. Qazi, United Kingdom - 07 March, 2007

what?!

There were attacks on US property before 9/11, but on a much less scale, which was not publized much and less sensationalised in the media. To be exact since late 80's there was one attack carried out in 3 years...(check it urself)...but it wasnt what its like right now...i mean, its stupid...no one really cared about them, even when clinton attacked afganistan in his time, the issue wasnt that big. Anyone knows that...i hope...but i dont believe in the thousands of terrorist camps and people recurtied...seriously if there were so many terrorists being trained which we see in videos, where did they go? i mean...did the thousands of trained terrorists attack america once in 3 years? that doesnt make sense to me...the fact that a country like afghanistan is a threat to america, still doesnt make sense to me, how hard is it really to kill insurgents? noone even knows the no. of civilans killed in afghanistan...just send a few bombers, and instead of fighting on ground, blow them up!..how difficult is it? its all stupid stuff...and then america expects pakistan to help them...of all countries pakistan!...the same country, the threaten to 'bomb back to stone age' if they didnt help them, i have nothing against americans or the west, they r normal people like us, but...they're government is silly, at least this one is...no matter how cliche' it sounds, i dont know how america has made itself more safer now...3000 people were killed on 9/11, 3000 americabs have died in iraq, and thats the government figures...i mean...these people will just keep on coming..why dont they negotiate..they shouldnt, but if they arent killing as many for some reason...talk to them, america only liberated kabul, whole of afghanistan is in taliban's hands again...what the hell r they doing...

uzair usman, United Arab Emirates - 09 March, 2007

Stop Iran weapon development

Anyone who believes that Iran is not attempting to create a weapon under it's foolish peaceful power claim is just a fool. I sure that intent is to build a bomb and send a message to America that they want to stop the freedom.
