George Bush, the US president, has had a pair of shoes hurled at him at a press conference during his last surprise visit to Iraq before leaving office in January.

An Iraqi reporter called Bush "Good bye kiss, you dog" and shouted out "this is the end" at Sunday,s news conference in Baghdad, before throwing his shoes at the US leader.

Bush, who had been giving a joint press statement with Nuri Al-Maliki, the Iraqi Prime Minister, ducked behind a podium as the shoes narrowly missed his head.

The incident will serve as a vivid reminder of the widespread opposition to the US-led invasion and occupation of Iraq - a conflict which has come to define President George Bush,s presidential legacy.

  • Do you think that throwing shoes at Bush symbolizes Iraqi’s hatred toward his polices and is justified?
  • What is the reaction of Arab world and the world at large?
  • Did the 29 years old journalist Muntazer al-Zaidi speak the heart of many people around the world?
  • Speak out please!!

    What Courage

This is the normal mentality of Muslim world. Direct or indirect, Muslims always supported terror. This courageous guy and his entire family may not be breathing by now if it was happened against Saddam, Ahmadinejad, Saudi Monarch, Syrian President or even if it was against Nazrallah of Hisbollah (Lebanon).

I would appreciate, if anyone in the Muslim world to stand against Middle East Monarchs, who keeps all the oil money only for their own family.

    Not fare

Zaidi threw shoes on Bush. It shows his intellectual bankruptsy as he had several other ways to protest and even to humiliate (If he needs to do it) Mr. Bush. When we do something we also should remember that it represents the name and fame of our nation. Alas where is the culture? Yes, it is not fare on a decent and educated citizen. I don't support Mr. Bush however.

With Bush going down in history as an other Hitler or Chengez Khan, no one would like to throw flowers at him.

He has his last out going wolf bite on Palestinians children and women.I hope 20 th January comes sooner than a split second delay, when they will take away his wolf like teeth.

PEACE AND LIFE TO ALL HUMANITY AND GOD SAVE OUR DEAR AND SWEET AND LOVABLE MANKIND FROM WOLVES LIKE BUSH.

Neither for shoes nor for roses

The world needs miracle now to see hope of renewed prosperity and the way out of economic recession or depression that the world is on the edge of.

We did not see Christmas or new year's stock market rallies and the world's financial situation is bearing resemblances of the ninteen thirtees.

They are already comparing president Bush with president Hoover(1929-1933), who was seen responsible for 1929 stock market crash.

New York markets have lost half the value like in 1929 and Bombay, Shanghai and Karachi are 60-70 percent down from their highs a year ago.Worse yet, the financial carnage has occurred in the US election year of 2008 as something very rare or once in history type election year crash.

After loosing half of stock market values in 1929, there was another 30-35 percent drops in two years of 1930 and 1931.America and the west even then kicked in bailout and stimulating packages and president FDR(1933-1945) did his very best of stimulating economies more than even president Hoover. But, nothing helped through all these years from 1932-1939, until world war two was the only thing that extricated the world from the worse depression in history.

Stock market rallies are the indicator of the financial times to come and we have missed Christmas as well as new year rallies. Now, all hope is banked on summer rally in July. The world desperately needs that languished stock markets rallies and or subsequent rallies so that the repeat of 1930's and the world war three do not get ensued and the world is saved from the final fall and ultimate doom.

Let us forget about revenge and counter revenge and pray for stop of Palestine slaughter.Peace is the only hope for mankind and we all have to learn to love the fellow human of any race, colour or religion. No body should feel glee on sowing the seeds of destruction of fellow human.

Islamic people have shown great tolerance and it shows up later elsewhere if you rejoice on some one's powerlessness.May be it would be fair and just if the Palestinians get compensated for their blood.

But, urgency now is for stock market rallies.Muslims as weak people are not threat to any one and staying weak and saving resources from exploits is no sin or crime worth recrimination.Bush has on the other hand awakened Russia and China due to his bullying acts against the weak muslims. But, muslims would love to see the world free of conflict and free of any alignment in the coming Armageddon between all the mighty ones.

IF THERE ARE NO STOCK MARKET RALLIES IN SUMMER(UNFORTUNATELY),ALL HUMANS HAVE FEAR, WORRIES AND CONCERNS.ONLY THE WORLD WAR TWO OF 1939 EXTRICATED THE WORLD OUT OF THE GREAT DEPRESSION OF 1930'S AT THE COST OF 150 MILLION CIVILIAN AND MILITARY LIVES.WORLD WAR THREE WOULD MEAN COMPLETE ANNIHILATION OF HUMAN RACE THROUGH ALL OUT NUCLEAR WAR.

NO MUSLIM COUNTRY IS STRONG ENOUGH TO BE CANDIDATE OF POST DEPRESSION ARMAGEDDON, IF THE ECONOMIES OF THE WORLD DO NOT REVIVE AGAIN.AND STOCK MARKET RALLIES IMMEDIATELY IN NEXT SUMMER CAN ONLY GUARRANTEE THE PROSPERITY IN COMING TIMES.

MAY BE IT IS TIME FOR FORGIVENESS AND FOR NO TIME TO TALK OF SHOES.WE CAN THROW FLOWERS AT EACH OTHER IF THERE IS SUMMER STOCK MARKET RALLY IN COMING SUMMER.

ANY FURTHER DROP IN STOCK MARKETS AROUND THE WORLD WILL BE AKIN TO REPEAT OF 1930'S AND HUMANITY HAS NO WISH TO SEE THE REPEAT OF THE WORSE EVER DEPRESSION OF 1930'S AND THE FOLLOWING WORLD WAR TWO AND THIS TIME WW3.

GOD SAVE US FROM THAT AND MAKE US SURVIVING HUMANS---AMEEN.

    Anwar Mahmood, Canada - 14 January, 2009

What about all the innocent ploepe, men, women, and children who are not soldiers in Iraq, but are still caught up, and killed, in this war? The civilian casualty count is currently 65,000 reported (that means it's probably at least double that). That makes those American troop casualties seem like nothing. I know personally of a childrens' wing in a hospital hit by an American bomb (obviously unintentionally) in our initial invasion. This war has to stop.
