September 4th, first prototype of JF-17 thunder combat plane took its maiden flight at Wenjing Airport, China . This light weight combat airplane is manufactured by Pakistan in collaboration with China.

It is affirmed by technical experts JF-17 plane will replace aging fleets of mirage, A5, and F6 with challenging performance to Fighting Falcon F16.

JF-17 Thunder plane is also considered to be having an edge over Indian LCA(Light Combat Aircraft) with futuristic avionics and cost effectiveness.

What do you think about this combat air craft by Pakistan?

Do you think Pakistan is at threshold of modern air technology?

Do you think Pakistan will retain its Air-superiority against India under this plane?

Reader Comments:

Nobody is banging his chest. There is a logical requirement for this aircraft and is being met. For those who think that Pakistan has scarce resources, think again. $400m were spent in a time span of about a decade. I feel pitty for the poor of India, where the government is spending billions on whimsical defence deals. Why all the expenditure? I don't see any reason other than a juvenile craving for attention.

Hamood Khan, United Kingdom - 20 September, 2003

A step forward

Congrats to Pakistani scientists. Although a JV, but a step forward.
Dear Pakis, don't always criticize, think positive.
Is it a waste of our resources? Recall wartime history of US when all their industries were busy catering to defense industry, resulting in development and boom of all industries.
With transfer of technology our defense will be strong and economy stronger.
"We have to keep our horses ready for the enemy"
Concerning dependence on China and their quality, please remember that most of Indian so-called “indigenous” products are based on average Russian technologies.
Dear Indian Muslims; you stayed in India, It was your decision and we appreciate it. But for God sake don't act more Indian than a hindu in order to justify your elder's decision.

JF-17 thunder for Khalistan

Hey Pakistan, we want 100 of these JF-17 and 100 tanks to liberate our Khalistan from the Hindutva Terrorists of India. Can you give us these weapons and help us in our liberation ?

We will return this kindness some other time.

Jasbeer Singh Bhindal, Canada - 22 September, 2003

Congratulation Pakistan,

Abdul Ahad Khan, Pakistan - 23 September, 2003

I am so angry,I don't know what to say? why you are thinking about fighter and bombs? what you are doing as muslims? do samethings for real Islam.India kill muslim and pakistan kill the Islam.you have distroyed the good name of Islam,it is 100% because of you so called muslims, that Indian kill muslims in india.when you will think about God? we are going to God,and you will not have answer for what you do in kashmir.

mikkael zakaria, United Arab Emirates - 23 September, 2003

Part-1, Response to Mikkael Zakaria

I agree with you when you say that Muslims are committing “terrorism” in Kashmir, Chechnya and Israel.
One more name would have been in the list, that of Bosnia. But UN/West was quick to solve their problems. Why the problems were solved because the terrorism was expected in the heart of Europe. In all these three cases Muslims, unfortunately are the weak parties. Weak to the extent that they cannot even think of confronting the strong parties head-on. In all three cases there are UN resolutions, but nobody is bothered for the implementation.
If so-called Axis of Evil exists today, then there is also an Axis of Suppression. And India and Israel are part of that axis.

Shahzad, Ukraine - 25 September, 2003

Part-2, Response to Mikkael Zakaria

Still I cannot be in the favour of terrorism. Try to put yourself in the shoes of these terrorists, if your kids and loved ones are killed and humiliated by the oppressor for more than 50 years, WHAT YOU WILL DO.
So if the Muslims would have been stronger and united, you might not have seen this terrorism.

Shahzad, Ukraine - 25 September, 2003

Jasbeer, Khalistan is coming

Jasbeer Singh, why do you want these JF 17 planes for the liberation of Khalistan ? Did these muslims have these planes when they created Pakistan in 1947 ?

We will also create Khalistan without these planes and without any outside help. Khalistan will definitely appear on the world map in the future. We cannot live with the Hindu murderers and killers any more.

Raj Karay Ga Khalsa
Khalistan Zindabad

Surrinder Singh, United Kingdom - 25 September, 2003

Shahzad - UAE, is a Hindu

Shahzad, we know that you are a Hindu writing under a muslim name. Stop telling hindu lies and discard your muslim mask. You are no muslim. Kashmir, Palestine & Chechnia struggle is our Islamic Jihad and not terrorism.

Tariq Bin Ziad, Pakistan - 26 September, 2003

For Surrinder Singh - USA

I respect your views. But the struggle for Pakistan in 1947 was different from our struggle for Khalistan. The conditions are very much different now and we cant have Khalistan unless we have support from the others including the weapons. We need JF 17 planes for our survival and liberation.

Jasbeer Singh Bhindal, Canada - 27 September, 2003

Pakistan and Islamic struggle.

Salam, Pakistan was not created with the help of a military might. The fact that we were muslims and different than the hindus in all aspects was a good enuf reason for us. We are Pathan, true Muslim Punjabis, Balochis, Sindhis, Mohajirs. We are the masters of battlefield. Ask the brits what happened to their army when it entered the NWFP??? IF the brits couldnt capture Pakistan, then what the hell are the Indians?.
And as far as Khalistan is concerned, u need to fight with a heart, especially if yr cause is justified. Inshallah, the Hindus will suffer for their crimes. Pakistan fazayyah ko dil ki gehraaeyon se mubarakbaad paish karta hoon.
Allah-O-Akbar.
Pakistan Zindabad.

WA SALAAAAAAM,

DELAWAR KHAN AFRIDI, United Arab Emirates - 26 March, 2005

Pakistan should decrease the number of F-16s and instead ask for tranfer of technology for avionics, radars, cross-border eavesdropping, airborne early warning systems, etc. You cant completely secure the country with just F-16. A total umbrella approach is needed. Regardless, Pakistan and China should continue their cooperation on their own multi-role fighter aircraft. Pakistan has no designs for regional dominance. Therefore, it is quite possible to define and meet all the required defence parameters without concentrating one product.

Jawad, Pakistan - 26 March, 2005

Akal mand ko ishara kafi

Some people up in this forum and living on foreign lands want Khalistaan. Indian government made a mistake while making Bangladesh, had it named it Khalistaan and kick u guys living on foreign lands in it, everything could had been sorted out by now.

rsdhillon, United Kingdom - 04 October, 2005

Day dreams

Dear Pakis, well congrajs for buying chinese equipments. Please note that Indian LCA was purely made in INDIA. Well lets forget all those. We are not in mood for war. We got enough duties to do. War and relegion is the only two subjects which a pakistani can think and dream. But for us we have a vision of development, economical growth. Thats what you are watching from India now. Before assembling a chinese made fighter, try to built a technology park. Try to built international airports. Try to built super express highways. Make friends in international level. See how the world see India and Pakistan. Try to built your own metro rail. guys understand the ground reality. ...

sandeep, Hungary - 08 October, 2005

Pride and peace

I understand the pride of your nation. But I dont let it go to your head! And for god(or whatever) sake dont mix it with religion!!!
We all need a world in peace and economic growth and not the opposit as many of you imply(war)! Religion is for the individual to deside not nations.
