The US military appears increasingly confident of finding al Qaida chief Usama bin Laden and other senior militants this year.
pakistan has arrested more than 500 al-Qaida suspects and handed them over to the United States over the past two years.

Troops from both sides have launched a fresh offensive against al-Qaida and Taliban fighters hiding in remote tribal areas (South Waziristan) near the Pak-Afghan border.

"We are on the hunt for al-Qaida," Bush told a meeting of US governors at the White House.

"It requires all assets, intelligence assets and military assets, to chase them down and bring them to justice, and we're going pretty good - better than pretty good," he said.

1. Why do you think importance was not given to Osama Bin Laden's capturing during early days of war on terror in Afghanistan?

2- Is the recent agressive hunt compaign against Osama Bin Laden, a possible political move of President Bush for coming US elections?

Osama is a coward

Osama is not an oppressed (mazloom) person, but a coward person who first motivated young muslims to fight for nothing. He's hidden behind the dead bodies of these young muslims.. In todays world he's the most corrupt muslim who's damaged interest of Islam and is directly responsible for the killings of thousands of muslims in Afghanistan and Pakistan. As a Pakistani, I would like our forces to continue this operation against Al Qaeda and kick each one of them out of our country. We stand behind Pres. Musharraf for cleaning out this mess created by these small tiny groups of terrorists.

As far as why Pres. Bush is putting emphasis on its capture now than in past. Well we all know that his Graph has come down to 45%, so he has to rush to bring it up. I anticipate that Osama's capturing news will be revealed somewhere in the month of September or October 2004. But he might have been captured earlier.

Fail to Understand

Sending you this message from Sao Paulo, Brazil from where I send my best wishes to the Pak Tribune readers.
Like to read news from different countries and this news paper gives me a good way to learn more about Pakistan.
Read Mr.Agha point of view as well as Mr.Fasih. Obviouly on a complex subject such as this one a common consensus will never be reached but on one side we find a serene view
confronted with one filled with hatred and extremism.
Nothing is new under the sun...there were the persians the macedonians, greeks, romans, germans and now the americans. Who knows whose next turn will be... but one thing I am assure of they will act the same way as all the previous did. Just look up the history.
I am not justifying america's behaviour but for me who tries to understand a little on human nature I am not at least surprised.
Under Alexander , the great,
surely people in dominated areas felt just as Mr.Fasih.
In other words plu ça change.
Best of luck to all of you, my friends.

Isn't religion fantastic!! Isn't it great that you can kill all the people you want "in the name of religion" and somewhere in the world it will be considered "an acceptable act" because they were part of some regime that you don't like. Religion is such a handy excuse to blow up a plane or plant a bomb. And isn't it so sad that No One, not with all the knowladge in the world, not even with every single written word, can prove that their God or whoever they worship, is real or ever existed. The extremists will tell you that their religion is the "true" and there god "is real"...ask them to prove it and of course they can't.
Religoins of the world are and always will be used as an excuse the kill. I wonder if the world would be a better place if there were no religions and we could all accept each other and live in peace. Let us hope.

Thank you soooo much mr stephen for being soooo kind.normally these daz its a fashion to call ''islamic extremists'' or ''fundamentalists'' to people like, of mine views.but as i understood by your good letter that with God's grace n help u really have an eye on world's history.if in todays world we see every where muslims have been targetted with occupations of there lands , wide spread of humen rights violations, massive genocides of the occupied people and then worlds allignation against the 'terrorists' and guess who these 'terrorists'are??? those freedom fighters who after this all genocide, had nothing to do but to fight back in self defence.so my invitation to all the world justiceful people like u is that lets all THE PEOPLE of the world get united agaist all sorta occupations and show solidarity to our brothers n sisters in kashmir, peleastine, chechniya and all the other occupied people that they are not alone we are fighting there case in world. May God bless all the mazloomeen(oppressive)people. May God bring peace to our earth. Ameen.

Reviver of Islam This Century

Indeed he is the Reviver of Islam, this century, reviving jihad, and alliance with the believers, and non alliance with the disbelievers, We Pray that he intiates more and severer attacks against the crusaders so they forget about september 11th, they will not find him, hes too clever and Allah is on his side, and if he does get caught, Allah forbid, he will take out as many of the enemies as possible and die a hero for the sake of Allah. May Allah give us Shariah, and victory soon.

Radio Tehran Report

Finally, Osama Bin Laden is taken back into custody by the American Special Forces, from the mountainous region of Tora Bora, and is being kept under very strictly guarded Baghram Airbase in Afghanistan.

Sources have revealed that the filming of his arrest is being planned out now and will be aired sometime later in order to facilitate George W. Bush for his election campaign for the upcoming battle of the White house. Sources also disclosed that Amen Al-Zawhri is with Osama Bin Laden. His custody was taken on February 19th 2004, when Special Forces raided mountains in the Tora Bora, with help from satellite imagery, and intelligence exchange, and thermal cameras. Insiders also exposed a American plan, saying that the US government will tape his arrest in South Waziristan, Pakistan, in order to boost their claim that the the borders of Afghanistan and Pakistan are a hide out for terrorist.

Meanwhile after 5 days of this original report Radio Tehran confirmed the arrest but disputes that his arrest was made in South Waziristan and not Tora Bora. Click here for Radio Tehran's report.

poor loosers

sept11,was a wake up call to us.we dont ever think that we were vulnerable here at home.but we were wrong, still i know it could happen again.so our stance is we will go into the heart of the middle east and show OUR might and i know it opened everybodys eyes.peple say the u.s.a is against muslims but the majority of muslims are aginst killing.so if you cant keep your people under control we will.

Victory Never Happens Overnight

The capture of OBL has always been a priority for fighting terror, but it takes years to build up an intelligence network and train the Special Forces that will be given the assignment to find him.

President Bush never stopped hunting for OBL. The American press stopped caring about fighting terrorism and started “Bush bashing” to fulfill their personal political agendas.

Terrorism is a multi-front war. This war is going to take years to win and require a heavy cost of human resources. But we will succeed.

Response to Abu Shaukat, England

Dear mr shaukat,I read with interest your comments and would like to respond to you, so you get the idea from a purely western mind what influence sept. 11th had on our views of Islam. YES it compelled me to read the qur'an to find out if what we are being told in the west really was true, that infact Islam is a religion of peace, and people like osama have just hijacked it for their own cause. I can tell you mr shaukat I was apalled by the miriad of verses promoting this exact behavior, (suras 9:5, 8:39, 4:47, 9:123, 47:4 etc.)As westerners we are becoming very aware of whats really behind Islam, Osamas actions just exposed that fact to us, and those of us who have discovered it are busy doing everything we can to tell those who havn't yet. (see websites like answering-islam.org.uk/ www.prophetofdoom.net jihadwatch.org ) And one final thing mr shaukat, Sharia will NEVER be established in England.

Sirs:

Are you aware that the picture of bin Laden that is on your front page was taken from a comedy website in the US? It is a parody of him, posing as a convenience store clerk, meaning he is hiding in the US by working at a 7-11 market, where many people of Arabic descent work in the US.

Chris Cawley, United Kingdom - 02 March, 2004

I don't think they've found Osama, because if they found him and were about to grab him, Osama would not give in without a fight. Osama is fighting for the sake of Allaah and he would love to die for the sake of Allah as a martyr, so if they have or do find him it's most likely there would be a fierce exchange of fire or a battle between both sides and he would probably be martyred. After all, bin laden and his associates are being guarded by 1000+ bodyguards, including al qaeda fighters, and the bodyguards would not give up without a fight. Just think about it.

peace with only one IF

may god help us creating peace in our world.see how easy that is to create peace in our today's world bcoz we have all the infrastucture required ready.world body(UNITED NATIONS)is there.today IF the intentions of big powers go righteous they can sort our world out within months if not days. the procedure is simple,to start with sort all the conflicts of the world via UN route with full justiceful approach to each of them and then with the help of all countries in UN we should get more n more funding to feed the hungary of our world. give oppertunities to all the countries to get prosperous..... so much else we can do and i am quite sure that if only the first part of my solvation is being done we'll be in sooo different world(much safe n secure)there is only one thing required for this all task only ONE thing and that is THE NOBLE intention.

fasih, Pakistan - 04 March, 2004

I'm so sick of hearing muslims whine about how they are oppressed by Americans. Look, your own leaders oppress you more than we ever could, and Bush is doing you a favor by attempting to bring democracy to you. If it weren't for a tiny portion within your ranks who desire to kill and destroy we wouldn't be invading Arab countries in the first place. I suggest you look and change from within otherwise you will continue to see American and British planes, tanks, and infantry in your cities.

Kill the Scumbag

The sooner the Americans capture or kill bin Laden and his followers the better.

WarBicycle, Canada - 04 March, 2004

I hate Osama Bin Laden

I don't understand, why Americans have firm belief on Osama Bin Laden being responsible for 9/11 attack. I am not trying to favour him as I myself hate this long-beard-wolf who supposedly lives in caves. Only Allah knows who really is responsible for that heinous crime, and if he really is, then I'll be the first to tear him into pieces. Through daily news, I understand that he is not only the enemy of Non-Muslims, but is also the enemy of Muslims.

Only Allah knows who really is behind recent bomb blasts in Iraq and Pakistan. I can only shed my tears for those who suffered and curse the culprits. May Allah help mankind bring them in view & be punished.
