Recent tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan on the issue of intrusion into formerís territory in pursuit of Al-Qaida activists by laterís army have triggered diplomatic problems between the two countries. The attack on Pakistanís embassy in Kabul led by Afghan government officials is just a big Ďaddí to this issue.

The Northern Alliance dominated Afghan government needs stability for that country to gain the status of Ďfit for developmentí. However, in light of un-necessary increase in Indian diplomatic missions in cities neighboring Pakistan, the artificial hype and desperate efforts by Indian businessmen for playing role in Afghanistanís reconstruction is an alarming situation for those working for restoring peace in Afghanistan.

What role can India and Pakistan play in the long term economic stability in Afghanistan? What are the Indian and Pakistani interests in Afghanistan and who benefits from the economic stability there?

Reader Comments:

Well, The truth is that pakistan will even not accept Afghanistan as a sovereign country. Pakistan plays difrrent games to force afghanistan to accept Durand line. One thing must be remembered if Afghanistan fails, Pakistan will neither exist for a day this time. In other words the stability of both is interlinked.

Afganistan-India

Hi All,
I really appreciate Afgan people for their rich culture and hospitality. We Indians are not sending our troops to afganistan ,but we are sending doctors, engineers, teachers etc,We are sending them so that they can build and train ur people in different medical, infrastructure building and engineering fields .We are not spreading hatred towards any country not even Pakistan. India as a country never betrayed any other country. If India wants it could have occupied any country in south asia(including pakistan, sri lanka, nepal, burma, afganistan,Iran). In our 10000 years of history India never betrayed or invaded other country.
