LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly echoed with the slogan ‘Go Zardari Go’, as the PML-N representatives rejected the Supreme Court’s decision against the Sharifs in their fiery speeches, marked by abusive words at times, against the President of Pakistan.

The emergent meeting of the Punjab Assembly was attended by 120 members who expressed their dissent and anger over the disqualification verdict. Rana Sanaullah started the proceedings by presenting a resolution condemning the Supreme Court’s decision; terming it backstabbing by President Asif Zardari. The main entrance of the Punjab Assembly was sealed and no one was allowed to leave the premises before conclusion of the session.

Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa declared the governor’s rule as illegal, however refused to challenge it in courts which he said are mere pawns of President Zardari. He told the assembly that Nawaz had announced to personally head anti-government rallies in all four provinces.

Khosa said this day marks the humiliation of eight years of struggle of the people along with Nawaz Sharif, and criticized the government for making ‘person-specific laws’ such as NROs and disqualification of opponents.

Khosa said Zardari betrayed the nation by forgiving Musharraf but the people and PML-N will not forgive him when they will get a chance. Declaring Zardari as a ‘mini dictator’, Khosa said the decision has defiled Zardari, the judiciary the image of the nation.

MPA Ch Abdul Ghafur said the PPP has sacrificed many lives for restoration of the judiciary, however President Zardari has forsaken the blood of the martyrs of 12th May. He said the PML-N tried to honour Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir’s politics of reconciliation but President Zardari kept betraying it.

Meanwhile, the PML-N held a meeting of its Parliamentary Committee after the session and was attended by Rana Sanaullah, MNAs Kh Saad Rafique and Nasir Bhutta, among others, to decide the future line of action.

End.
