Rumours of my house arrest is big joke, says Musharraf |

ISLAMABAD: President and Chief of Army Staff General Pervez Musharraf Monday brushed aside all rumours that his subordinates have placed him under house arrest.
While talking to a foreign new agency Reuters, President made it crystal-clear that he has not been placed under any house arrest terming it baseless and unjustified rumours. He denied rumours sweeping across Pakistan that he has been placed under house arrest by the subordinates who are unhappy with his decision to impose emergency rule (PCO) in the country.
Earlier, Journalist Community, newspapers and TV channels were receiving phone calls that General Ishfaq Pervaiz Kiyani had taken over the duties of President Musharraf as Army Chief of the country and President Musharraf placed under house arrest in this regard.
However, well-placed Sources of Aiwan-e-Saddar and Presidential Spokesman Major General retired Rashid Qureshi strongly brushed aside all such rumours underlining that President Musharraf is performing his duties as normal.
He denied all such sweeping rumours spreading in the country.
President Musharraf made the decision of imposition of Emergency in the country after joint consultation with Corp. Commanders and high military leadership thus terming the house arrest as baseless, he held.
Meanwhile, Director General Inter Service Public Relations Maj. Gen Arshad Waheed ruling out any change in the high command of the Pakistan army termed all such reports as baseless.
Talking to media on Monday he said that such rumors are baseless and no attention should be paid to them. He said that the army high command is working as usual.
People who are spreading rumors of army take over have their own agenda and there is no truth to such rumors, he said
