ISLAMABAD: The inquiry tribunal has finalized inquiry into the incident of manhandling of suspended chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry by the police and presented the sealed report to the Supreme Court (SC).

SC sources told Online Friday senior judge of the supreme court and the then acting chief justice of Pakistan justice Javed Iqbal had taken suo motu notice of manhandling of dysfunctional chief justice by the police. Justice Javed Iqbal directed judge of Peshawar High Court justice Ejaz Afzal to hold inquiry into the incident.

Justice Ejaz Afzal conducted inquiry for seven days and over 16 media persons were also summoned. They recorded their statements and provided evidence. IG Islamabad police, SSP and other police officers also appeared before tribunal. They submitted their explanation.

The inquiry tribunal after recording the statements concluded its inquiry on Friday. Sealed report has been delivered to SC registrar.

The SC will announce its verdict on the matter within fifteen days in the light of the report.
