MARDAN: Following Dir and Bajaur, barbers in Mardan have received letters from a non-popular organization of purported Mujahideen to stop shaving beards in their shops otherwise face dire consequences.

A barber shop, Sana hair dresser, in Par Hoti, Mardan has received a letter from an organization, 'Tanzeemul Mujahideen NWFP' warning the owners to stop shaving beards otherwise the shop would be set on fire or bombed. The letter says, "You know an Islamic revolution is to come therefore inform all your community members to stop shaving beards". The warning has caused a wave of fear among the barbers.

President barbers association Mardan, Tariq, told Online that barbers were innocent citizens and they did not want law and order situation to emerge in the city. He said the barbers association had held a meeting with District Police Officer, Mardan, Akhtar Hayat and had informed him about the threat.

The DPO, he said, had appealed to the citizens to cooperate with police and inform them in case of any suspicion.
