KABUL, March 25 (Online): The Afghan National army has killed four Taliban in Uruzgan province.
According to the report of Radio Kabul, Gen Rehmatullah Yousafi said that the ANA carried out an attack on a hideout of the Taliban in Rahton area of the Uruzgan province that resulted in killing four of them.
He said that ANA seized huge quantity of arms and communication devices from the Taliban. While another Talib was killed in a clash with the motorway police of the Uruzgan province.
The Interior Ministry confirming the report said that a group of the Taliban had taken positions on the motorway in Charchino district.
It said that the Taliban confronted with the motorway police that resulted in killing a Talib while the remaining fled from the area.
The dead body of the Talib was in the custody of the police.
Meanwhile, An Australian soldier wounded during an engagement with insurgents in Afghanistan has returned home for medical rehabilitation.
Defence Minister Brendan Nelson and defence head Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston said the soldier suffered a minor wound in the clash with anti-coalition militia elements earlier this month.
The unnamed soldier, a member of the Australian Special Forces Task Group based in Oruzgan province in central southern Afghanistan, was treated by his comrades and evacuated to a coalition medical facility for minor surgery.
Dr Nelson said he was honoured to meet the injured soldier during his visit to southern Afghanistan earlier this month.
"The soldiers of the Special Forces Task Group serve with tremendous courage and commitment," he said. Air Chief Marshal Houston said the soldier was now back home and in good spirits."
His injury was minor but he does require a period of rehabilitation before he can return to full operational fitness," he said.
"The soldier spoke with his next of kin as soon as he could and they were fully informed of his injury and the arrangements for his transfer back to Australia."
Air Chief Marshal Houston said details of the incident, the identity of the soldier and the nature of his injury would not be released for operational security reasons.
"We don`t want to give the anti-coalition militia the opportunity to exploit the information to the detriment of ongoing operations," he said.
Security commander killed in Helmand
Security commander of Moosa Qala district was shot dead in Helmand province.
Security commander Dr. Abdul Manan was killed when he was going for prayer early in the morning, Radio Azadi reported.
The security guards of Dr. Abdul Manan has opened fire and killed the attacker. District officer of Moosa Qala, Haji Muhammad Wali conformed his assassination and told reporters that investigation was underway into incidents.
