956 quake affectees have been amputated

ISLAMABAD: There are presently 956 amputated patients among the quake victims in different hospitals of NWFP, AJK and Islamabad-Rawalpindi hospitals, it was informed in the meeting of Disaster Management Committee chaired by Federal Minister for Health here on Wednesday.

The minister directed that details of every amputation case reflecting aged, gender and nature of amputation be compiled immediately that would help determine the nature of specialized medical care for the cases.

The meeting was informed that there were 128 cases of spinal injuries from quake stricken areas in the PIMS and many more cases were admitted in other hospitals and their details were being obtained.

The meeting was further informed that the ministry of Health`s immunization teams had administered 50,595 doses of Tetanus in AJK and in NWFP 35,215 whereas 273,348 were administered measles, cholera and typhoid-cholera vaccine.

The meeting also decided to install a large field hospital at Batgram to replace the existing one.
