ISLAMABAD: President Pakistan Football Federation Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat said Friday that anyone could not expect somebody to give his best when the poor chap doesn't even have the means to earn his bread and butter.

"You will have to ensure proper jobs for the footballers to lift the standard of Pakistan football. Otherwise, things will get worse in the future not for football, but also for other games", he added.

He sated this while talking to journalists here on Friday.

He held that he met with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in order to solve this dilemma, and he fully agreed with this situation. I also asked him for increment of stipend of players already employed in various organizations.

He termed lack of jobs along with the absence of playing grounds and sponsorship have contributed to the dismal figure of Pakistan football more than anything else. Today even a contractual assignment for a top footballer is considered a stroke of luck.

The previous 16 Presidents of PFF from 1948 to 2003 are responsible for spoiling soccer in Pakistan, he added.

He also transformed the ailing National Championship into a tough, absorbing National League while his latest innovation is National Football Challenge Cup on the line of English FA Cup.

"the recently-concluded Indo-Pak football Series will help us in providing four flood-lit stadiums in headquarter of each province. Karachi is already equipped with mammoth flood-lit stadium, while the Governors and Chief Ministers of Balochistan, Punjab and NWFP have promised to turn the Ayub Stadium (Quetta), Punjab Stadium (Lahore) and Qayyum Stadium (Peshawar) into high-grade flood-lit system "said Faisal who is also Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas.

He praised the remarkable performance of Pakistani team at Lahore on 18 June and hopes that Pakistan will enter a strong team in 6th SAFF Championship 2005. He also orders his coaching staff to prepare meritful Pakistan's U17 and U20 teams for forthcoming AFC events in November 2005.

He, finally, thanked all office-bearers of FIFA, AFC and other nations who sent congratulatory message for a enormous success of Indo-Pak Series.
