Zardari accords warm welcome, honour to Aitzaz
28 December, 2011
GARHI KHUDA BAKSH: President Asif Ali Zardari left his speech halfway to accord a warm welcome to PPP leader Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, as the barrister arrived here.
President Zardari also discontinued his address and instead invited Aitzaz Ahsan to deliver his speech; which President Zardari attended with due solemnity.
The PPP activists also warmly welcomed Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan by raising slogans.
The PPP leader Aitzaz Ahsan has said the Bhutto mausoleum is the "graveyard of the martyrs", adding that martyrs are those who can see death staring at them before dying but they still do not change their paths, and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto did not change his path either.
Addressing the 4th anniversary of Shaheed Mohtrama Benazir Bhutto, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan observed, "This rally is not happening in a big city like Lahore or Karachi but is happening in a small town away from the big cities, and people from far-flung areas have come to attend it."
Giving reference to Imam Hussain, he said that many people forbade Imam to go to Kufa and made him afraid that he would be killed. He said that paths are not changed with dangers of life and system. "The people who changed the way, I have no complaint with them," he maintained.
He said that if somebody says that exit of any great leader has no effect that is wrong. He said party workers have come here from across the country to attend BB's death anniversary. "This is the way of ZA Bhutto and Shaheed BB", he added.
Giving reference to Shaheed BB, he said that when he came to visit BB in jail she was sitting in scorching heat of sun with Bilawal and Asifa on a heap of stones. She was an embodiment of patience and steadfastness. While paying tribute to Banazir Bhutto, he said that she remained unwavering in the face of death.
Aitzaz said that when Benazir used to speak at international forums, she would leave everyone impressed. He added that Benazir was herself the former prime minister and was also the daughter of a prime minister and yet she would sit outside the jail with her children in the "harsh" sunlight when she would come to meet President Zardari. He added: "If we are Benazir's companions… then we should follow her mandate."
While throwing light on current issues faced by the nation, he said: "We know it better that people are unable to pay utility bills and house rents. We know prices are high and there are multiple other problems. Despite this, we are to follow BB's way. We have to stay with patience and steadfastness."
End.
