YDA strike: Govt suspends, transfers protesting doctors
07 January, 2013
LAHORE: The Punjab government on Sunday issued notifications regarding suspension and transfer of many office-bearers of Young Doctors Association (YDA) following their strike and torture of senior Gujranwala doctors. On the other hand, young doctors resumed their duties at Punjab hospitals after YDA gave a deadline of six days to the provincial government to accept its demands. On January 3, young doctors stormed into the office of medical superintendent of Gujranwala District Headquarters Hospital and subjected senior doctors to torture. The doctors also did not spare the media covering the incident. Later, expressing anger over the arrest of some young doctors, YDA went on a strike in government hospitals across Punjab. End.
