ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has called for an inquiry into election rigging allegations by Supreme Court judges.

Addressing party workers on Thursday, Khan said: "Inquiry must be held by Supreme Court judges in whom all (stakeholders) can trust". The PTI chairman also suggested name of Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid to conduct the inquiry.

He announced that the PTI would wrap up its sit-in if rigging is not proven during the inquiry.

Khan said that he would demand Nawaz Sharif's resignation if the judges of the top court found his allegations correct.

The PTI chairman said that formation of more provinces would not resolve issues being faced by the people.

The former cricket hero also applauded Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and termed him as an honest man who placed a list of Indian men, who had stashed their money in foreign banks, before the country's top court.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi Tuesday said that name of Justice (retired) Nasir Aslam Zahid should be included in the list of three proposed former judges for the post of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

Talking to media at Wagah Border Thursday, Qureshi said that Opposition leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah had contacted him this morning via telephone and told him the names of proposed former judges.

The PTI senior leader said that the party leadership is of the view that all three proposed names were highly respectable, however, he added that name of Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid should also be added in the list.

Earlier, Khursheed Shah said that he put forth names including former chief justice Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqui, Rana Bhagwan Das and Ajmal Mian for the post of the CEC.

Qureshi also condemned Wagah suicide attack which left 60 people dead and dozens others wounded.

End.
