ISLAMABAD: Former president Pervez Musharraf has said that there might have been some ‘rogue elements’ within the establishment who conspired with the Taliban to assassinate former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, BBC reported on Wednesday. “Possibility is there. Yes, indeed. Because the society is polarised on religious lines,” the former military ruler said when asked by the BBC if ‘rogue elements’ within the establishment could have been in touch with the Taliban about the killing of the two-time prime minister. “I don’t have any proofs available. But my assessment is very accurate, I think … A woman who is known to be inclined towards the West is seen suspiciously by those elements,” Musharraf said, adding that his assessment was a hunch rather than a solid proof. According to BBC report, Musharraf strongly dismissed the idea that he would have ordered Benazir’s murder. “Honestly, I laugh at it. Why would I kill her? What benefit would I get out of her murder?”
