Where is the sporting spirit?... By Nayyar

India and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) must apologise for the incident in which the captain of the Pakistan blind cricket team drank chemicals instead of water when in India. Unfortunately, India has a sordid history when it comes to visiting Pakistani cricketers. Earlier, in the 1960s, the finger of legendary Pakistani batsmen Hanif Muhammad was injured — causing him to retire — during the team's tour of India and no one got punished. Now we have this incident where Captain Zeeshan Abbasi was hospitalised because of the chemicals he ingested. The most shameful thing has been the reaction of the Indian media, dispelling any chance of it being more than just an accident. The silence of the Indian government, BCCI and the International Cricket Council (ICC) is also shocking. The government of Pakistan and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) must demand an immediate apology from the Indian government and the BCCI, failing which the impending tour of our national cricket team should be cancelled.
