What was the PPP thinking?
30 October, 2012
In a very strange and surprising move, the top PPP leadership has named Mian Manzoor Wattoo as Punjab's PPP president. If we look at the names of former presidents of the PPP Punjab, one will be able to guess that, now, the PPP is facing an acute shortage of jiyalas (loyalists). The only reason for choosing this old Muslim League leader is his ability to participate in 'make or break' activities. He is also very famous for changing his political loyalties; he may well be the mastermind of turncoats. This will spoil the PPP's ideology and reputation; it is a very bad decision for a political party that believes in democratic struggle. This must be a painful and shocking decision for the ideological and hardcore jiyalas. The PPP should also keep in mind that, in the past, Mr Wattoo was unable to win his ancestral seats. Let us see what he does for the PPP and how the party will achieve its set goals with his able help. DR ALFRED CHARLES
