ISLAMABAD: Thousands of students and Ulema held a protest demonstration arranged by Wafaq-al-Madaris against the official ban on Jamia Faridia.

The protestors chanted anti-police, and government officials and also blocked the road, and announced to offer Ramadan prayers at the Lal Masjid and Jamia Faridia.

However the police and administration foiled any effectiveness of the said protest and long march, while heavy contingents of police and security forces were also summoned to cope with any unwarranted situation.

A high level meeting of the Ulema of Rawalpindi –Islamabad was held on Thursday in Masjid Baab-al-Islam, located in Jinnah Super Market, which was attended by additional general secretary of Wafaq-Al-Madaris Qazi Abdul Rashid and other renowned religious figures, who tried to hold a demonstration after the meeting.

Harsh words were exchanged between students and administration, whence the Ulema announced to stage a sit-in until Lal Masjid and Jamia Faridia were opened for public prayers during Ramadan, and protested wildly against government’s endeavors against religious elements on behest of America and West.

They also urged on all the mosques to issue edicts against these governmental endeavors on Friday, and vowed to bring Islamic revolution, which would end all corruption and obscenity from the Country.

They also accused the government of trying to create a crisis, paving way for emergency/martial law in the Country.

Don't take "Panga" with clerics

One big defect in military Generals is that they resort to force, and that too brutal at most occasions, when things go out of their control. In the first place the Army has no business to enter into politics and then glued to power. The constitution should include a clause to ban military intervention in the parliament. Pakistan needs a populist leader, who understands the aspirations of the people. If no one has come in all the past sixty years to take the cause of people, then how do Musharraf and his band wagon think they can solve ongoing problems? In one way the Ulema are right that our salvation lies in Islam. But no ruler so far had the understanding of even simple Islam. General Zia was a hypocrite and a chauvinist. The political parties have no separate wing for the Ulema to avoid a purely religious party that has little knowledge of running a modern democratic country. There must also be a military’s rapport with the people so that the Army is taught and trained to deal with civilians who are the real sovereigns of the state. Two thousand years back said Jesus Christ: “Sabbath was made for man and not man for Sabbath.” The Army, the rulers, the media, judiciary, parliament all is servants of the people. Said our beloved Prophet (PBUH): “Sayyed ul Qaum-e-Khadimohum.” Musharraf is double Syed. Media should instill this lesson in his body and soul. No effort is seen in the works for Islamic values to be instilled in the people. The Qur’an has defined a reformer in last verse of Chapter “Al-Ankabut.” It says: “Those who strive hard in our cause, We guide them to the paths leading to us.” The combined categories of Ulema will admit that do not fulfill the definition of “Wallazina Jahadu Fina”: Those who strive hard in our cause. Look! Islam just needs to begin from the bottom up. It starts with spending on fellow Muslims out of what God has given them. This is how the “Sadqa” practice started. “Jan say hum nay amal kerna shorhe dia hay” is nonsense rhetoric. Even the lepers can exchange ‘Sadacat” with each other. One piece of “Khajoor” swells as big as the “Ohad” Mountain. One would ask the “Tableeghi” dedicated class to go and motivate the beggars. A leader motivates so that the people do what is good for them. Even a child resists being told what to do. He does what he likes to do. Let the Ulema convey the messages by their own example. They would soon enough become eligible for “Zakat” tax payers Don’t lead. A leader falls into a ditch before he knows what he is doing. Let baggery disappear through motivating the poor and down trodden. That will be big slap at the face of Benazir, who wants claims to reform the condition of the “Kuchlay huway Aawam.” Stop begging donations and “Chandas”. You also be a part of the act in promoting “Sadaqat.” Then, the Qur’an offers a seven hundred times gift of reward on spending in the cause of God. Don’t stress too much of “Sadgi”. The same Abu Huraira, who used to stumble on the path from hunger, became affluent in one generation. One doubts if the Ulema do understand the Qur’an. What they teach is simply “Ratta” of the Qur’an. One would make it mandatory on the Army to learn Qur’an and know its messages. Here is a message to the judiciary: These is an anecdote in the Qur’an: “A petition came befor King David and his son Solomon. Allah gave the “Fehm”: insightful knowledge to Solomon. The irony is that the Ulema’s lifestyle belies their understanding of the simple religion of Islam. When the fantastic return of seven hundred times on spending in God’s cause was announced in the Qur’an, it electrified the economy. A beggar got 700 dirhan on his one dirham investment. He kept 100 for his needs and invested 600 again. It multiplied to 420,000. If he would invest 400,000 it would grow into two eighty seven million. How did Hazrat Usman became “Usman Ghani”. In one generation beggars became rulers of an empire. For God’s sake inspire and instill the love of God and go to heal the afflictions with the balm of Qur’an. This is a modern age. There is no room for “Aamils, and “PiriMuridi”. Even Pir Sahib Pagara mist be moytivated to spend his accumulated wealth possessions on his downtrodden “Murids”.Time and space prevents from quoting further gems from the Qur’an. Let it suffice to mention that the Jews of Medina saw the radical change and prosperity of the believers with eye popping sights. Let me close this by another anecdote. It is said that it was probably Hazrat Hasan Basri, who said to the multitude devotees to seek forgiveness from God and repent to Him. When the people went away heeding to this advice, some body ask him how come all their needs could be met by simply his advice on that day. He said read the Chapter "Noha" and you will get the answer.
