03 September, 2013
LAHORE: The recounting of votes in PP-150 started on Monday after a delay of several hours.
The recount was scheduled to be started at 8am but it started at 4pm due to difficulties in tracing and transferring vote bags to sessions court. At 4pm only 145 out of 147 vote bags were available for recount, but later the remaining two bags were also provided after they were recovered from the record room.
The vote recount of seven polling stations was completed by 5.15pm in the presence of polling agents of PTI and PML-N candidates who were also present besides other candidates. The vote recounting process will resume at 8am today (Tuesday) and continue tomorrow as well.
Talking to media, PTI's candidate Mehr Wajid said that his rival PML-N candidate was leading by a margin of 100 votes after recounting of votes of eight polling stations. However, Wajid said that he had challenged some votes after it was found that they were not stamped and signed by the polling staff.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has tasked returning officer concerned with the recounting of votes in PP-150 after rigging allegation.
