Violence claims 12 more lives in Karachi

KARACHI: Twelve men, including a political worker, policeman and an alleged bandit, were killed in separate acts of violence here on Wednesday.

In the first incident, a man affiliated with the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) was killed at North Nazimabad within the precincts of Taimuria police station. The victim was identified as Saleem, 26, son of Hassan. He said at least two armed men riding a motorcycle shot and killed him, while he was having tea at a hotel along with his nephew. Luckily his nephew escaped unharmed. His body was brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for autopsy.

In another incident, a policeman was shot dead at Qalandria Chowk within the limits of Shara-e-Noor Jahan police station. Police said the deceased Murshid, 26, son of Jamil, was standing at the chowk in plain clothes when armed riders came and shot him. They escaped after committing the crime. His body was shifted to (ASH) for medico legal formalities. The victim was a resident of Orangi Town.

An alleged bandit was killed while another injured near Baber Market within the precincts of Landhi police station. According to the police, the bandits were busy looting valuables from passer-bys and a sales vehicle near Baber market, when the guard of the sales company opened fire on the bandits. Resultantly one bandit Nadeem Baloch, 30, was shot and died on the spot, while his accomplice Mahmood Baloch, 27, tried to flee from the scene when the locals caught him and handed him over to the police after giving him a brutal beating. They were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsy and treatment.

In a separate incident, a man was killed while another injured at Abdul Hassan Isphani Road within Sacchal police station limits. According to the police, the deceased was Rafiq, 26, and injured Shah Kalam, 40. Police said two armed men on a motorcycle attacked them, but did not succeed asa their target was Shah. The body and injured were taking to JPMC for autopsy and treatment, respectively.

A man was shot dead while offering resistance near Hill Park within the limits of Ferozabad police station. SHO Jahanzaib Khan said that deceased Naeem Ullah, son of HIzb Ullah, was standing near Hill Park, when two men tried to rob him. While offering resistance a bandit shot him dead and fled. His body was shifted to JPMC for postmortem.

A man was shot dead at Sher Shah within the limits of Sher Shah police station. An official said that armed riders shot and killed Wasif, 30, son of Nisar. His body was brought to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for an autopsy. He said the victim used to work as an auto mechanic,

A shop owner was gunned down over personal enmity at Azeem Pura within the jurisdiction of Al-Falah police station. According to the police, the victim was 40-year-old Ghulam Akbar. His body was brought to JPMC for medico legal formalities. Police officials said that the incident might have occurred over personal enmity.

A man was killed in Lyari within the limits of Kalakot police station. An official said that the deceased Ashiq Ali, 30, was going somewhere when unidentified armed riders shot and killed him. They managed to escape from the scene of the crime. His body was brought to CHK for medico legal formalities.

A body of man was found from Hawkes Bay road within the jurisdiction of Mauripur police station. Police said that victim was Walid, 35. Unidentified armed culprits killed the victim after kidnapping him. His body was shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities

The bodies of the two young abducted friends were found from Sher Shah and SITE areas. A 28-year-old Ali Mustafa, son of Mohammad Sadiq, was found dead from Miran Naka within Sher Shah police remits while the body of Abdul Samad, 28, was found from SITE area. Their bodies were taken to CHK from where their families identified them. Police officials said that both the victims belonged to Urdu speaking families but had no affiliation with any party. They said that both the victims lived in Kharadar area from where they were kidnapped on Tuesday. Police officials further said that Ali Mustafa sustained three gunshots while the other victim was slaughtered.

A man was killed while five others injured within the limits of Napier police station. Police said that unidentified armed pillion riders opened indiscriminate firing at them while they were sitting near their houses. Resultantly Pervez, Sohail, Karam Ali, Amir, Zubair and Atif sustained injuries. After committing the crime the culprits managed to escape. The injured were taken to CHK for treatment where doctors pronounced Pervez, son of Shabbir, dead.
