Violence after justice... By Mahnam

04 March, 2013

It is highly distressing to read of the violence that ensued as former vice president of the Jamat-e-Islami, Delwar Hossain Sayeedi was convicted and sentenced to death on two of the sixteen charges pressed against him in accordance to the crimes committed during the war of 1971. While a vast majority of the country celebrates the serving of justice, there are still many who show opposition to the decisions being made. In what was hailed as a historic day for Bangladesh, 53 lives were lost.

Now the third person is being convicted by the International Crimes Tribunal — we have yet to see how many more innocent lives will be lost as the proceedings continue.
