US senators assure of continued aid

KABUL: A delegation of US senators-led by John McCain called-on President Hamid Karzai late Thursday and assured continued US assistance to Afghanistan. The delegation comprising of senators of ruling democrat and republican parties discussed Karzai's recent trip to Washington, security transition to Afghan forces, security agreement between the two countries, peace and reconciliation process, US-Afghanistan relations and cooperation beyond 2014, counter-terrorism efforts and regional situation with the Afghan president, said a press release issued by presidential palace Friday. The United States senators termed President Hamid Karzai's recent visit of Washington as successful and assured that United States would continue its assistance to Afghanistan. The president thanked US for the hospitality extended to him during his visit and said the agreements inked with US should be implemented. End.
