US issues terror alert for its citizens
08 October, 2012
ISLAMABAD: The United States on Sunday urged its nationals in the capital to avoid going to its parts because of possible terror attacks, the US Embassy said. The message posted on the US embassy website identified "key government installations in the downtown area of the city known as the Red Zone" and a number of local hotels. "The US Embassy in Islamabad alerts US citizens that the Interior Ministry of the local government issued a general threat alert on possible terrorist attacks in the city on Sunday." It advised "all US citizens to avoid these areas, remain vigilant, keep a low profile, and continue to exercise caution while in Pakistan". Interior Ministry officials were not immediately available to comment. Pakistan has been on the frontline of the war against terrorism since the attacks on New York and Washington in September 2001. End.
