US defeated in Afghanistan, says Mubashar Hassan
23 May, 2012
LAHORE: Renowned economist and Pakistan People's Party-Shaheed Bhutto Punjab President Dr Mubashar Hassan has said that May 21 was a historic day in the history of Pakistan and Afghanistan as 27 nations of the world during Chicago summit refused to continue war on terror in Afghanistan.
Addressing a press conference, he said that Afghan freedom fighters fought against US for the last 10 years and at last compelled the US to leave Afghanistan. He said that Mao Zedong's saying proved true that US was a paper tiger. He said US had been defeated in Afghanistan.
He said the Pakistani nation also stood victorious in this war because the credit for suspension of NATO supplies went to the Pakistani people. The people's pressure forced the rulers to suspend NATO supplies, which proved last nail in the coffin of the US, he added.
He said that the anti-American sentiments were so strong that no American could be seen roaming openly on the roads of Pakistan. He said Pakistani people were not ready to see any American or American base in Pakistan. He said Pakistan always supported Afghanistan as an independent state and Pakistan would help the Afghan nation if any country tried to put political or military pressure on Afghanistan.
He said it was a shame for those rulers who supported US aggression against Afghanistan in 2001.
The US has been fighting against the Afghan people and the Pakistani rulers committed a national crime by accepting and supporting the aggression. He said the US army had 160 bases in Afghanistan and now it was begging Central Asian states for way out. He asked the US to appeal to Pakistan for a safe exit, adding the Pakistani nation would probably consent to that appeal.
He said that some quarters were afraid that the frail or no relations with US would endanger the solidarity of Pakistan, which was altogether a wrong concept. Rather, Pakistan has suffered a lot during the last 30 years due to the meek relations with the US. He said Pakistan wanted relations with US on equal basis like Japan, Sweden, Norway and other countries had with US.
