Two killed, 14 including SHO injured in blast

KARACHI: At least two people died and 14 others were injured after a police officer's car parked outside his house was targeted in a bomb attack here on Friday, media reported.
According to reports, Shafiq Tanoli, Station House Officer (SHO) of Mauripur Police Station, was likely the target of the attack.
Sources said Inspector Tanoli was in not in his four-wheel-drive pickup truck by the time of the attack, which is suspected to be a motorcycle bomb blast.
The attack was carried out outside Inspector Tanoli's house in Purani Sabzi Mandi (Old Vegetable Market) area of the metropolis within the precinct of PIB Police Station.
Tanoli's car was damaged beyond recognition as it caught fire after the bomb went off and his house also took the hit and was partly destroyed in the blast.
Moreover, the blast also shattered the facades of nearby shops and wiped out some street side vendors.
Most of the casualties were rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), said rescue sources.
According to Dr Simi Jamali, head of JPMC's emergency department, some of the victims were in critical condition.
SHO Shafiq Tanoli told the police from hospital that unknown man crashed motorbike with his vehicle.
