Two FC men killed in firing at check-post

QUETTA: Two Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were killed and another injured in Sariab Road area on Sunday evening, police said, when two armed militants opened fire at the FC check-post.
A police official said an attacker was also killed and another arrested in an injured condition as the FC returned fire.
He said one FC man was killed on the spot and another succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital.
An FC spokesman said the attackers were riding a bike. The martyred soldiers have been identified as Lance Naik Akbar Hussain and Sepoy Hazrat Ali, he said.
The arrested attacker was shifted to an unknown location for interrogation.
Police and FC personnel were quick at reaching the scene and the area was cordoned off to avoid the occurrence of another untoward incident. Security was tightened on Sariab Road as investigation into the incident was under way.
The injured FC man was rushed to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for medical treatment. Senior doctors were called on emergency basis to provide timely treatment to the injured soldier.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. However, a spokesman suspected Baloch separatists of being behind the attack.
Sariab Road is considered to be one of the most sensitive areas of Quetta city. Targeted killings and bombings in the area are the order of the day.
Apart from police, FC personnel have also been deployed on the road to maintain order.
Meanwhile, an explosion rocked Hub city on Sunday. There was no report of any damage.
According to details, miscreants planted an explosive device in a dustbin along the Quetta-Karachi road. It went off with a big bang. However, there was no report of any damage or loss of life.
