Tourism in Pakistan... By Sohail

Pakistan is facing the harshest test in its history — it is battling sectarian strife, attacks against minorities, militant aggression, a spiraling economy, an energy crisis and many more demons. Sometimes it seems as though this list has no end. However, there is one victim of all these ongoing crises that is the worst affected: the tourism industry. Pakistan used to be a haven for foreigners back in the day (some 40 to 45 years ago) and, to this day, has some of the most beautiful valleys and mountains to offer all those struck by wanderlust. However, all this matters little now as no one in their right mind would want to come to Pakistan for a holiday any time soon. We can stand to make millions from tourism revenue but we have ignored completely this very relevant industry due to our short-lived and irrational priorities. Let us revive tourism in Pakistan so that we can once again enjoy a melting of cultures on our soil. SOHAIL KHAN
