Tirah blast kills five militants
14 September, 2012
LANDIKOTAL: At least five militants of a defunct organisation were killed and many others injured in an explosion of a remote-controlled device on Thursday in the remote Tora Vella area of Tirah Valley, official sources said. Some local sources said the blast targeted a vehicle of the defunct Amarat Islami organisation, which is led by Dost Muhammad Zakhakhel and comprises local fighters. The sources said the militants were on their way when their vehicle was hit by a bomb planted by unidentified people, killing five of them on the spot. The vehicle was also destroyed in the blast, the sources added. There was no immediate claim of responsibility. It is pertinent to mention that a number of militant groups in the area have been active against one another to assert authority and protect areas under their control, resulting into a large number of killings. End.
