Three soldiers killed in ambush near Lakki

PESHAWAR: At least three soldiers were killed and three others sustained injuries in clashes between security forces and extremists in Lakki Marwat, media quoted officials as saying on Monday. Dozens of insurgents armed with guns and rockets stormed a security checkpost in Lakki Marwat. Three soldiers were killed while three others, including a Major rank officer, were wounded in the attack. The wounded troops were shifted to military hospital. The security forces retaliated, however army did not give any information about the number of militants killed or injured in the exchange of fire. Security forces have been engaged in a military action in the area for the past several months in which several militants have been killed and dozens others injured. The security forces claimed to have inflicted heavy losses on the militants. However, the claim was rejected by the insurgents. It is pertinent to mention here that a large number of people have fled the area and shifted to Hangu and Tall. End.
