HERAT: Four persons, including three religious students were killed by unknown gunmen in Charsadda district in Ghor province Sunday.

Unknown armed men shot dead four civilians in Shewal village in Charsadda district, an official of the Ghor police headquarters, Zainul Abideen told the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP). He said three of the dead were students of a religious seminary located in provincial metropolis Chaghcharan.

They were on their way from Chaghcharan to Charsadda district headquarters when the unknown armed men attacked them, Zainul Abideen added.

He maintained tribal or personal enmity could behind the incident.

He went on to say a delegation had been constituted to probe into the killing.

The police official, however, rejected the reports that the armed opponents had kidnapped 10 people on the Chaghcharan-Charsadda highway and killed four of them who were students.

End.
