Three killed in separate acts of violence in Karachi

KARACHI: Three people were killed in separate acts of violence here on Wednesday. In the first incident, an ex-trustee of Muhammadi Dera Imambargah situated in Malir area was killed outside his house within the precincts of Saudabad police station. An official said that two unidentified armed pillion riders opened targeted fire on 58-year-old Ibne Hassan, son of Shah Hussain, outside his house when he came out to drop his grandson to nearby school, resultantly he received multiple bullet wounds and died instantly. The body was brought to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities. The official added that deceased used to work in Tyre Company as manager. He said that preliminary investigation revealed that unabated wave of sectarian killing was behind the incident. Meanwhile, many people held a sit-in at Malir, Jafer Tayar Society and Saudabad areas. They also held a protest at the National Highway and blocked the smooth flow of traffic. They demanded the arrest of culprits. Following the unrest, a heavy contingent of law enforcement agencies personnel rushed to the scene to maintain law in order situation. Separately, a man was killed at Nishter road area within the limits of Eidgah police station. According to police, Umer, 27, son of Babu, was sitting near his house when two armed riders emerged and shot him thrice. As a result, he received fatal bullet wounds and succumbed to his injuries on the way to CHK. The police said that the motive behind the killing was uncertain, as the deceased had no affiliation with any political; or religious party. Meanwhile, a mother of three children was stabbed to death inside her house at sector 16-A, Buffer Zone within the limits of Taimuria police station. SHO Ejaz Lodhi said that Mehwish, 31, wife of Faheem, was stabbed to death by her husband over a domestic issue, who later escaped. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for an autopsy. End.
