Three cops killed in Rawalpindi attack

RAWALPINDI: Three policemen were killed in an armed attack by unidentified people near the Race Course Police Station on Monday.
According to initial reports, the incident took place near the Imambargah located close to the Race Course Police Station. Armed motorcyclists fired at the policemen and fled from the scene. The officers were deployed for the security of the Imambargah. Police said four unidentified armed men attacked the policemen. One policeman who was injured in the attack was in a critical condition and was taken to hospital.
City Police Officer (CPO) Umer Akhtar Hayat Lalika visited the crime scene and condemned the attack. He expressed the resolve to arrest the culprits at the earliest.
He said that following the attack, security at all Imambargahs across the city has been enhanced, while sketches of the assailants are being prepared with the help of eyewitnesses.
It may be recalled that on December 18, four people were killed in a suicide attack in Gracy Lane after which the government increased security at all Imambargahs in Rawalpindi city.
