The teachers of the package... By Haider

Almost two-and-a-half years ago, 5,000 male and female teachers were appointed under the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan Package. The teachers were adjusted in different colleges and schools in various districts of Balochistan. Some 700 appointees were posted as assistant lecturers in different colleges of the province while the remaining 4,300 were adjusted as high school and early school teachers. Undoubtedly, this was a great initiative on the part of the federal government as the province already lags behind in the education sector. However, what is a matter of great concern is that these teachers are being paid a meagre sum — below Rs 20,000 — which is barely adequate given the current inflation and the skyrocketing price of commodities. Additionally, their salary is not being paid on a fixed date like it is for other employees, which further adds to the misery of the teachers. Furthermore, after a lapse of more than two years, the future of these teachers still hangs in the balance. What is more vexing is the fact that no one is ready to own this flock of teachers. The provincial government terms it a federal subject while the federal passes the buck by saying that it has done its part and that now it is up to the provincial government to regularise the teachers. I would like to request the concerned authorities to consider this problem concerning the package teachers so that they are regularised as soon as possible. HAIDER SAEED

Dear you have pen down a praiseworthy article on the heart wrenching grievances of Baluchistan Package teachers. However, i would like to tell you that the salary for Package teachers is not 20,000 but less than 16,000 for Bps-16 and less than 13,000 for Bps-14.
