The least they could have done... By Ibrahim

My heart filled with grief when I heard on the news about the handing over of Gwadar port. It was sad to hear the president of Pakistan giving a warm speech to our counterparts. On the one hand, we have a nation that lowers its flag on the atrocious deaths of a few and on the other we have a nation whose president is celebrating his economic achievements at the same time as 100 deaths in a bomb blast. For the love of God, what could possibly have happened if this act had been delayed for a few days? Rationally, I do not understand the importance of Gwadar port but what I do understand is that my whole nation is in such a great trauma that I do not intend to celebrate. The least the president could have done is offer his condolences and visit those targeted civilians. However, this is the bizarre nation of Pakistan. Our ministers sit behind fortified and secure walls doing nothing but stating that they have taken all necessary measures and steps. This is just like sprinkling salt over a raw wound. I urge the entire government to at least look beyond their puny job descriptions and show some kind of humanity. IBRAHIM ABBAS
