The National Assembly of Pakistan recently passed the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University (PIMS), Islamabad Bill 2013. The PML-N and MQM recorded a strong protest and their members objected to the name of the university. It is sad to see that the PPP has decided to erase both Quaid-e-Azam and Pakistan from the name of the university. Under this new bill, Islamabad's premier institution, the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) will go under the control of ZAB University. This move of converting Quaid-e-Azam Post Graduate Medical College into Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Shaheed Medical University (ZABSMU) with PIMS under its control has hurt the sentiments of many Pakistanis. Quaid-e-Azam was the founder of Pakistan and, undoubtedly, the true hero for all Pakistanis. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was also a very prominent leader but to replace Quaid-e-Azam's name is not suitable. It is hoped that after the forthcoming general elections the next government will revoke all the decisions of the PPP government in which they have changed names of institutions to those of the Bhutto family.
