Textile mill owner arrested for gas theft

LAHORE: On the directives of the government, the Punjab Police arrested Malik Anwar, owner of Orient Textile Mills, from the premises of Lahore High Court after cancellation of his bail.
According to details, Distribution Officer Muhammad Arshad Hameed was informed on July 9 in Faisalabad that gas theft was being committed in Orient Textile Mills.
On receiving this information, Assistant Commissioner Shafiullah along with a Sui gas team raided the site. After thorough checking and digging, it was revealed that the owner had got two direct connections without meters from two main lines.
The gas was being used in the factory in a gas generator (1-25M), one steam boiler and three thermal oil boilers. The accused reportedly stole gas worth Rs 220 million.
